Musarfy

In a 2D top-down stealth adventure, rats just want to live peacefully in their tribe, but a legend about their shapeshifting nature scares the humans, who begin to hunt them.

You play as a rat exploring Óbidos, talking to others, tricking fishermen by taking human form, and searching for freedom across the lake.

Motivation

Game developed for the EPIC-WE game jam and the theme was Heritage Remix - Óbidos Legends: rediscover the past, reimagine the future.

Integrating Equality, Human Rights and even Freedom as values for our game helped us better understand complex social themes by turning into something more tangible and expressive.  Since the legend touches on the fear of the unknown, we chose to explore the musaranhos’ perspective, showing how fear-driven, aggressive reactions can be harmful, and how the rejection of what is different reflects a deeper struggle with acceptance.
