BattleChess: Covert Call
A downloadable game
Assume the role of a commander in a naval command tower, responsible for coordinating Allied ships to stop the advance of the Enemies and ensure the safety of the country's coast. Communicating through a simple landline telephone with the ship captains, your mission is to lead them in eliminating the enemy threats that permeate the waters. But be careful: there are signs of Enemies infiltrated in the territory. Do not let them discover your strategy.
Motivation:
This game was developed as a semester project for the course Specialization Workshops II in the Master's program in Game Design and Playful Media at Universidade Lusófona. We were challenged to create a game that had a strong connection with a landline phone, using it primarily as the controller for the game.
Rules:
The game revolves around the telephone: players will listen to audio messages and send their commands through it.
- Players must position their ship(s) on the board and relay this position to the telephone.
- After listening to the game's introduction, players will perform an action: sonar, move, or attack.
- Feedback will be given after these actions, and the turn ends.
- The game ends when:
- All of a player's ships are destroyed; or
- A player runs out of ammunition across all their ships.
The Ships' Code List and other information are present in the game's manual.
Download Instructions:
- Choose a version of PDF file to download (Portuguese or English). It contains the manuals and map.
- If you want to run it with unity + telephone, you can download the code via GitHub.
Note: the audio files are not available yet.
The fate of the coast is in your hands. Good luck, Commander!
